memories

Jen posted on her Facebook the other day, that she was feeling nostalgic.
I was browsing the web and came across a picture that reminded me of a book I
read as a child.

I couldn't remember the name of the author, so I started Googling to see if I could find it.

Of course this got me going,

Jen; I am feeling nostalgic too :)

~ Books

The books that I remember reading more than anything as a child, were Golden Books.
I think we had every Little Golden Book in creation!
I couldn’t possibly choose just choose one that I like the most...so here are a few!

Richard Scarry's: Best Storybook Ever

I loved this book!

I know it's not really a little Golden book, but it's Richard Scarry none-the-less

I instantly remembered the cover, but couldn't quite reach back that far and remember the specific stories in it. So, I Googled some more and came up with these!

This section was one of my favorite. It had different colors mixing together to make other colors.

There was the story of the mice

The Saggy Baggy Elephant

This one reminded me of the ugly duckling, or Rudolph.

The little elephant, who’s name I couldn’t remember but thanks to Google I found was Sooki and everyone made fun of him because his skin was all saggy.
Poor thing :( until he met others who were unique just like him and he wasn’t an outcast anymore!
The Red Hen

I used to feel bad that this book left the other characters without anything at the end because they didn’t plan ahead like the Red Hen did.

But, the Hen shared all the wheat she planted all year for the winter, with all the others. Which made me feel better. Very kind of her!

The Three Little Kittens

This one was cute.

The three kittens all got new knitted mittens from their mom. But, they either lost them or got them dirty and the mom was not pleased!! Gotta love the hard work of knitting and having your children lose or dirty your hard work :)

~ Toys
Fisher Price Teaching clock

We used to play with this over at my grandparents, Nina and Pop’s, whenever we were there! Absoutley loved this toy!

Makes me miss my Pop :(
Fisher Price Barn

I think these were pretty popular and, Like most kids, I'm sure, my favorite part was the "mooooooo"  when you opened the door :)

Sweet Pickle Bus

Now, I'm sure Mom is reading this and shaking her head saying, "That wasn't meant as a toy". But, I don't think I ever used it as it was meant to be: If memory serves me correctly; it was "educational" I, on the other hand, enjoyed playing with the little figures that came with it

;)

~ Movies

Well there are tons of those too!!

But, here are a few!
Peter Pan - Mary Martin

I think I saw this version before I saw the Disney one. Dad taped it off TV for us

I can remember watching it over and over again...over and over and over :)

It was musical play version of the Peter Pan story. Some of the songs I loved were:

"I'm Flying"
"Tiger Lily's Song"
"Build a House for Wendy"

Alice in Wonderland - 1985 version

With so many variations to this story out there, most people would probably think my favorite would be a more modern one. When in fact, when I think about Alice, I think of this one!

This was also a musical. I feel like the characters in this one, were just so much more magical than in all the other version of Alice in Wonderland.

I loved the innocence of this Alice.  It looked like it was so much fun as she met all these characters. Then they danced and sang with her through her journey in Wonderland!

~ SO....

That's it for now.

I'm sure there's tons of things I'm missing; but there's just so many and not enough time

...or space

What were your favorite things as a child!?

february blues

I’ve been really slacking with this blog thing! Every day I have all intentions of sitting down when I get home from work and type up a little blurb or just log in and say hi every now and then;
but nope.

It’s just been really insane the past few weeks. How about you? Did your February come flying in with all sorts of intentions of love and candy filled bliss? But, instead it’s leaving you wishing that it were not a leap year so you didn’t have to spend another waking day in it?

Yeah, that’s pretty much how February has gone for us this year too!

January ended so nicely with a great celebration of our 1 year anniversary.

I thought, "hey, February will be fun!" We have V-day and Graysons’ bday party. David grows another year older (and probably another inch taller) as well. So, what’s not to love!?
I also was planning to get my root canal finished, so it was going to be great!!

Well, the root canal wasn’t able to be performed; the tooth was really bad. So, on Thursday, 16th, I had it pulled. That’s great, right!? Normally. But, the tooth was infected which was still a factor in the surrounding gum area.

So, until I was placed on additional anti-biotics on Sunday, I was still fighting infection. It’s still sore, and rightly so as that area has been through a lot. But, it’s healing and then it’s onward to the next tooth. 1 down, 24 left to go! My secret plan is to convince any dentist or endodontist that I need all my teeth pulled and get dentures :D

The saddest part of this month was the loss of Nancy’s mother :( She was a sweet lady and I feel terrible that this world has lost this great person. My love and support goes out to Nancy, Dad, Sarah, Matt and Paul! Love you guys!!

Grayson’s party was fun. They had it at this place where there is a big room and it’s filled with inflatable jumpy things. There is an obstacle course, and slides. It was neat!

I’m very happy to say that although my grandfather fell the other day as well, he had surgery and is healing nicely! Thank goodness for that!!! From what I heard, he's doing okay.

Around the illnesses, teeth pulling, parties and busy work schedules, we’re gradually moving me out of my apartment.

Tuesday night was great progress in organizing all the kitchen stuff, pulling out the spices and baking goods in the kitchen to organize and consolidate. The living room is cluttered, but with all intentions of moving into storage when proper packaging is acquired [boxes] which are currently sitting on top of my book-shelf, in my office at work :)

I wanted to write a blog that was going to update the life I’ve been living here in Maryland in hopes that everyone would feel somewhat connected to what I have been experiencing. What I was also hoping, is that you will all take advantage of the fact that you can comment on here and share some of the things you’ve been doing; I know I’d love that :D just a thought!?

Somewhere down the road I’d like to split the blog up into different sections where I can write about other things; besides just me and my life :) But, we'll see how that goes!

Peace and love to you all! <3

places for things

I gave my notice to my landlord!!! The only thing that changed was the date that I would be moving out. I told him as of April 1st I was out.

I found out, it's Maryland law, that if there is nothing in the lease that indicates penalties for early termination, the owner can rightfully request that the remaining months in the lease be paid by the tenant. Of course, my lease does not have anything pertaining to an early termination. But, luckily for me, my landlord rocks and we've maintained a good relationship that he is letting me go with a two month penalty.

I will only have to pay up to May in the event he doesn't find someone to rent the place before then.
SO, we have plenty of time now to get me out of my place!!

Last weekend was very productive.

Sat I went to yoga and then over to my apartment to do some much needed cleaning. I was able to bag up all my clothes and get everything somewhat organized. While I was over there, Shane cleaned out the closets in the bedroom since that's been his main source of storage for all these years. By the time I came home, everything was in the living room. And, still somewhat is :) We need a dump run for the computers and totes for the remaining stuff so that can all go into storage!

Sunday we went looking for a dresser for me, since my armoire won't be coming here but going into storage. I had looked at IKEA online and found one that was Okay. After looking at a few local furniture stores we went to IKEA.

We started walking through all the rooms that they have set up and before even seeing the one I originally was thinking of, I saw this one right there in front of me.

It really was love at first sight :) Shane said that the look on my face when I opened the top drawer was priceless. He said he knew right there that I wanted this one.

It's so super cute how when you open the top drawer, there's this little drawer inside! They had jewelry in the model one, but I figure you could put pretty much anything in there

Thursday we got our storage unit! Yippee for storage! Now we just need to organize our stuff and get things moved in!

This past weekend I drove up to Lebanon, PA to meet my friend Dawn at the Expo center there. She was there with her friend Diane where they have a yearly rabbit convention. We spent the day there on Saturday walking around the convention and then leaving for dinner.

We went to this really neat restaurant Blue Bird Inn.
The food was decent, but the atmosphere was excellent. I had a great time visiting with them and getting to see a new place! It was sad to say goodbye on Sunday morning...it wasn't worth going home early to have the Pats lose!

Hope you all had a great past couple of weeks!

Leave comments to let me know what you did!! <3

back track to present

Wednesdays are somewhat of a tease; you're the furthest away from a weekend at this point in the week.

This past weekend was quite fun, and like most of our weekends, it was very productive! We had Grayson as well.

Friday we did some grocery shopping and had tacos for dinner :) We eat more tacos in a month than I used to have in a year! I like these those because we use ground turkey. Although I should be eating more red meat...this is one dish I like using turkey for!

Saturday I had to bring my car in to have the airbag sensor that came on a month ago looked at. Shane's dad works for a Volkswagen dealer and hoped that the machine would read my car as well. And, it did! Luckily for me there was nothing that came up and when they reset it the light went away and hasn't come back! woohoo!

Sunday.
Well, Sunday as more of a better day for me than anyone else.
So, if I were Shane writing this entry, I probably would just leave Sunday out all together.

But, since it's my post; GO PATS :D

We did enjoy the company that we had and the time that was spent with them and each other.
Shane's parents were here, along with Shane's ex-in-laws, which I'll explain:

After Shane and his ex, Karen, got divorced, he still remained in touch and very close with her dad and step-mom. Which I always found extremely interesting because, well that's very similar to my family :D They are very lovely people and I have no problems with extended, extended family!

Shane's parents got a puppy. She's a Pomeranian, her name is Foxy because she looks like a little fox

She is such a sweetheart!

Monday brought work; ick! But, my new job is going good! Each day is a new adventure. I'm having a hard time adjusting to the fact that I have to start all over again learning something from pure scratch. I do know that takes time though so I remind myself of that and try not to get discouraged.
We'll see how well that works :D

Monday was also me and Shane's 1 Year Anniversary!! <3

We are on a pool league that plays on Monday nights, so we decided we were going to play and than go out and celebrate on Tuesday. I lost in my pool game that I played; but we went out last night and had a marvelous time!

We went into Little Italy, Baltimore. Ate some pretty spectacular, and quite "filling" food :D
The canoli was AWESOME though!!

And, so now we're at Wednesday!

Today I had a very successful release of my very first upgrade project at work!!
Very excited about that! My boss was away all week at a conference, and returns tomorrow, so I'm excited to share my news with her!

I met Grayson's after care teacher today, so I'm all set to pick him up on days when we have him or
I need to get him if someone else can't.

Then it was just me and the little guy because Shane plays 9 ball on Wednesdays. So, it was Lego Star Wars III on the Wii and some Superman reading material for us! He's such a sweet boy...he's getting so big! He's missing two teeth now!

Tomorrow is another night with the kiddo and then Friday, Saturday and Sunday are days filled with moving festivities. Because, my e-mail is all drafted to my landlord to give my occupancy notice as Feb 29th! I'll officially be roomies with my love and G!

<3 to you all! This lady has to be up at 6am, so off to bed she goes

this one will stick

I hope to use this blog as a way to communicate with everyone back home in MA.

I am not always great about calling everyone as much as I should; I blame my phone for the bulk of that {honestly}.

That leaves me feeling disconnected and that I can't share things as much as I'd like. There's lots and LOTS of things that go on in my life that I don't get to share with everyone.

I tried the e-mail thing, but I'm limited on the amount of pictures I can attach and then I have to remember what I put in the last e-mail, blah blah blah. Gets too messy.

I have always been one to keep journals and scrapbooks; so I think this will be a reflection of that. No, I'm not going to start each entry with "Dear Diary".

I will just be able to record and track all that I am sharing and in hopes feel a little closer to everyone by doing so

<3 much love!
